There’s little doubt that the 1971 Hemi 'Cuda is the Holy Grail of muscle cars! It’s the one muscle car that stands out for being the first American muscle car to demand north of the million dollar mark at auction (in 2014). But the status of the Hemi Cuda is not new; it has long been lusted for as a legendary muscle car with sinister looks and the power to back it up. First, yes, it's In Violet paint (commonly referred to as Plum Crazy), that wild and eye-grabbing '70s pop-culture hue that practically defined Mopar performance machinery. Both models have white seating and door panels with black dashboard and carpet. Under the hood you'll find the 383 Big Block Wedge powerplant which was designed to be a great combination of thrift and performance. Few Detroit muscle machines had the same impact as the 1971 Cuda with lightning acceleration, flamboyant paint and styling. . Cuda Convertible – 1970 (New Tooling!)
Stock Number  – 1806129 Year / Make / Model  – 1970 HEMI Cuda Convertible Exterior Color  – Yellow Interior Color  – Black Manufacture  – Acme Scale  –  1:18 Production Number  – 642 Release Date  – SOLD OUT! . Our price includes the Shipping Fee if you’re in the Lower U.S 48! Sorry but this offer excludes all foreign shipments as well as HI, P.R. & AK . Make no mistake, 1970 Hemi ‘Cudas are rare. Plymouth made just 652 Hardtops total to be exact. Most customers had one thing in mind: Going really, really fast in a straight line, either from one stoplight to the next or perhaps 1320 feet at a time. Only 18 people in 1970 wanted their Hemi ‘Cuda to put a little more wind in their hair. By the late 1970s Hemi convertibles were roughly $10,000 cars. In the mid-1980s a few sold in the $25,000 range. By 1990 they had just tipped into six-figure territory. And at the beginning of the 2000's a few traded in the half million dollar range. Serious money to be sure. . Note: Your Credit Card will not be charged until the item is ready to ship! .   . [gallery ids="3854,3855,3856,3857,3858"]

Cuda Drag Car “Arlen Vanke” – 1968

"Akron" Arlen Vanke was a working-man's drag racer. Competing--and winning--in the Stock, Super Stock and Pro Stock classes, he set records with Pontiacs and, later, Plymouths, earning multiple Stock Eliminator titles with both marques. Through it all, he built the cars in a backyard garage and often drove his open ramp truck to the track and back. In fact, Chrysler hired Vanke to test their performance technology. In 1967, Arlen modified the RO23 Hemi intake manifold for racing. "NHRA rules allowed racers to modify the intake manifold, so I made the stock manifold into a plenum chamber manifold, " he said. . Vanke's Hemi, along with the Sox & Martin team, gave Mopars so many victories in the late '60s that they dominated the scene in Super Stocks. In 1968, he built this incredible HEMI Cuda that we are so proud to offer. He won the Nationals in August at Indy running SS/B with his 1968 Plymouth Hemi Cuda. He then reset the record again with a 10.61 at 140 miles per hour in the Cuda in SS/A at the Winter Nationals in Pomona, California. . . Special Offer!! The 1971 Plymouth HEMI Cuda Convertible was one of the last of its kind, built as the muscle car era neared its end. It is one of 12 built for the 1971 model year and among the five examples earmarked for non-U.S. destinations. Designed by John E. Herlitz and built on the new E-body platform, the 1971 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda featured a wider body and a lower stance than its second-generation predecessor. Among the many reasons why this HEMI is exceptional is the factory A833 four-speed manual transmission paired with a Hurst Pistol Grip shifter and, under the hood, a savage HEMI engine. Only three came equipped with this option. The Winchester Gray 'Cuda features a black Shaker scoop, a V3X option code black top, black billboard graphics, and Rallye wheels wrapped in F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GT tires. . Anyone witnessing the strip-shaking performances of today's 275-mph 5-second AA/Funny Cars will find it difficult to connect those thundering acceleration machines with the purely pedestrian daily drivers found in a typical new-car dealer's showroom. But by winding back the timers to the mid-'60s, the relationship between these contemporary competition cars and yesterday's store-bought "grocery getters" can be seen more clearly. Chrysler's corporate drag racing efforts went extreme in 1965 with a handful of purpose-built drag machines born of the muscle car era's "win at all costs" mentality. The 1965 Plymouth Factory Altered Wheelbase cars and their Dodge counterparts resulted from a cutthroat battle between Ford and Chrysler for victory in the NHRA's Super Stock and A/Factory Experimental A/FX classes. . Don Grotheer may not be a household name, but he was a Super Stock NHRA/AHRA heavy hitter during the 1960s.  Grotheer started racing a black ’63 Plymouth followed by a white ’63 Plymouth AA/Stock eliminator in 1965. He was able to win the AA/S championship, which caught the attention of Bob Cahill, product planner, and manager of Chrysler’s drag racing program. Cahill provided Grotheer a parts contract. Grotheer was also enlisted to conduct performance clinics at Chrysler dealerships (along with Sox & Martin and Dick Landy) and he did over 75 of them. He was also a pioneer of the Pro Stock class in its infancy. In 1967, Grotheer raced a '67 Plymouth Belvedere and won the Winternationals class eliminations, securing another Division Championship. Grotheer went on and won again in 1967 then again at the ’69 Winternationals in his Super Stock/B Automatic Cuda with B&M “secret weapons” transmission parts and “race-stall tork-converter.” Always an innovator, he continued to race for many more years.  . In 1971, however, Barracuda buyers could choose from just about every engine Plymouth produced, just as they had been able to the year before. Since the Coupe was just a stripped down hardtop model, their production numbers are grouped together. While these were the best selling models of the 1971 Barracudas, their production was only at 9,459. The Coupe had a base price of $2,654, while the Hardtop started at $2,766. The convertible began at $3,023 and had a production run of 1,014. . Note: Your Credit Card will not be charged until the item is ready to ship! . . [gallery ids="3835,3836,3837,3838,3839"] .
