The third and final model year for the first-generation Chevrolet Camaro was 1969. It would also prove to be the highest production year of the first generation, with 243,085 copies leaving the factory. These 1969 Chevy Camaro Z/28's are believed to be two painted a rare special-order hue known as Carolina Blue (this was GMC fleet light blue). The Chevrolet Camaro for 1969 had a host of aesthetic changes, with front fenders, rear quarters, rear panel, header, valance, and doors all receiving design tweaks. Wheel wells were flattened for a more aggressive look, and the standard grille had a new look, with sharper angles. Outfitted with a high-revving 427 engine with dual exhausts, these Z/28 Camaros provided the driver with powerful performance.  . Special Offer!! Clarksville native Patrick Nichols has been on many treasure hunts and has discovered 50 or more classic muscle cars that were buried under the hands of time in barns, garages, storage sheds and back yards since his youth. Recently, Nichols found a rare and valuable 1970 Chevelle SS454 LS6, that was stashed away in an industrial storage building in Reno, Nevada for decades. . The Chevelle was built in Van Nuys, Calif., and finished with a special “Metallic Orange” paint option. It is estimated that less than 25 extraordinary cars were assembled and painted the unique orange hue. Nichols purchased the car and had it transported to Clarksville. "Akron" Arlen Vanke was a working-man's drag racer. Competing--and winning--in the Stock, Super Stock and Pro Stock classes, he set records with Pontiacs and, later, Plymouths, earning multiple Stock Eliminator titles with both marques. Through it all, he built the cars in a backyard garage and often drove his open ramp truck to the track and back. In fact, Chrysler hired Vanke to test their performance technology. In 1967, Arlen modified the RO23 Hemi intake manifold for racing. "NHRA rules allowed racers to modify the intake manifold, so I made the stock manifold into a plenum chamber manifold, " he said. . Vanke's Hemi, along with the Sox & Martin team, gave Mopars so many victories in the late '60s that they dominated the scene in Super Stocks. In 1968, he built this incredible HEMI Cuda that we are so proud to offer. He won the Nationals in August at Indy running SS/B with his 1968 Plymouth Hemi Cuda. He then reset the record again with a 10.61 at 140 miles per hour in the Cuda in SS/A at the Winter Nationals in Pomona, California. . . Special Offer!! While Shelby was diving deep into the the development of the GT40 for LeMans, he also had his sights on Ford's Mustangs. He wanted to turn Ford's secretary sports car into a track champion. So, Ford sent him three white K-code 1965 Mustangs. Serial number 5R002 would become the very first GT350R prototype and is arguably the most important Mustang in history! 5R002 would have multiple parts tested on it with drivers such as Ken Miles and Bob Bondurant behind the wheel, fenders widened by hand, the famous rear window designed by Peter Brock that let air escape, reverse hood scoop, and so much more! 5R002, aka the "Flying Mustang", would win its first race it ever entered on February 14,1965 with Ken Miles piloting the car to victory. Miles and others would compile 10 wins with 5R002 throughout the season with Jerry Titus capturing the SCCA B Production Championship for 1965!
